Also the money you save on a heavy inefficient jline is not worth it. I mean our Intercooler right now is only $475. That's $200less than a Cobb with 50%more frontal area and keeps temps 10-20deg cooler.

Russ
That is partly incorrect, the jline may be heavy in comparison because of the cast end tanks but there is nothing wrong with its thermal efficiency.

The weight of the intercoolers like mine is not a big deal to me. The issue I have is frontal area.

I feel you on saving the money. But my jline was free (installed by my work [pepboys speed shop] as a demo and promo install). So i want to keep my heavy inefficient intercooler lol. But i do agree it is stupid heavy lol. Also for those of us just buying the crash bar, will you include brackets for the what looks to be the air bag sensors (since you attach them to your ic) or are we on our own for those ?

Can you please supply data log showing ambient, intake air temp, map, rpm, and vehicle speed. I have logged and seen logs with pretty much every intercooler available for our cars. So before saying anything I say is not true please support facts. Thank you

I'm sure I could come up with something for that.

Hi Russ

Below is a link to a YouTube clip testing the J-line on my ST. Two 1st to 4th gear runs. The vehicle has been driven for about 30 mins before testing and is fully heat soaked. On the second run the rev limiter is hit in four gear. Compressor out-let temp is measured by the DMM.

I also have plenty of logged test files but there are in Microsoft Excel format. I can email these to you if you want.

Ian,
The video shows no more than 115 kpa and only for a split second at a time. Which is only about 16psi? Also it shows that the charge temp never moves from 25-27c. 71-83f as sweep from a four year pull which is pretty hard to believe. Also logging in c you really need to be accurate to the .1 for good resolution. Also excel works pretty much every ECU or software logs in CSV. Heat soaked would mean the intercooler is so hot it's past its capability to cool at its normal rate. For you intercooler to be heat soaked by cruising around would be worse than stock. Like I said before log with the previous variables and I will discuss. However I haver under cars with mishimoto intercooler for several years and never did they hold a candle to a properly designed intercooler. I really don't want to fill my thread with this but I would rather not misinform

I thought all those brackets where built into it already?

You would have to see how it comes together the crash bar holds the rad support and the intercooler has its own brackets that go to the rad support not the crash bar. I did this to also use the intercooler as frontal crash support.

I think he's trying to say the ic itself helps brace the front end in case of an impact. Hence why he says it's a structural piece and that probably why he mounted the air bag sensors to it. Once again bravo on a well designed piece.
