I think I'll cut them. Never going back to stock. I threw the OEM IC away when I installed the Levels IC.

I'm likely daft. But I've been following both this and the factory fitment IC thread. So the only reason people wanted the factory fitment one made is because this one requires modifications to the car in order to install... or?

Pricing seems the same but this one is better? :/ Thanks!

I would imagine some people don't want to swap crash bars. I compared both of them, asked Russ what he thought would work for my application and made my choice based on that.

For this one, you do have to replace the crashbar, which brings it to the $850 price. The stock fit one does not require that. I'm personally not going big turbo, I may eventually do either a cyborg or DHMs smaller GT2560r kit, which the stock fit is capable of handling.

Thanks for your reply, I'm still new to the turbo world I came from the Stang GT scene prior so I'm trying to learn is all.
So, based off that, if one has a stock turbo, and is simply going stage 3 (IC, DP, Exhaust, Tune) then both of these IC applications would yield the same results? The race one just offers more expansion capabilities?

The race one likely has better overall performance, you'd need logs from people with them for that however. For my goals, the smaller stock fit one seems better. For stage 3, you'll probably see similar performance to other stock fitment ICs with the smaller stock fit one, just more budget friendly than some of the other options, and without the fabrication and cutting that seems necessary for the J-line.

Question for you, Russ: Have you tested the strength and loading forces of the replacement crash bar, VS. the stock one?

I'm not sure if this has been answered but, will this work with the Mishimoto Oil Cooler Kit?

Mishimoto is looking into this I believe. They were responsive when people mentioned it on the oil cooler r&d thread.

We recently had a customer in CA get into a pretty bad wreck and hit a wall. The bar held up great just as it did in our testing. I can get some pics up soon. (Customer was ok)

Any chance of getting another group buy started for the IC and crash bar?? [driving]
We missed out on the introductory sale....
Actually im looking to do another sale soon!!! Would you guys like that?

Hi Russ...

I think it would be very helpful it you could post specific tests performed with results...this seems to be a concern for a few folks here on our forum....

thanks..much appreciated!

We have not done any oem crash bar testing so besides posting tensile strength test that we have passed from our chromoly welding cert. Also to add to this if someone is worried or on the fence they may not be best suited for the RACE crash bar and intercooler kit. Again we make a product here that at a race track if it takes a hard hit our crash bar will defect and absorb the impact like it should. Also the intercooler your in the kit is a LARGE structure that the oem configuration does not have.

Russ
