RS Adrenaline Academy 2018 open for registration

It went live around noon yestereday. There was a little bit of a hiccup right at the opening bell (looked completely booked almost instantly, reminding me of trying to get reserved seats and Chateau Ste. Michelle to Bonnie Raitt and Steve Winwood, not), but last year's info was cleared out pretty quick and signups are going. So far only the June 2/3 event is locked up.

Go, do, if you have not already. I did the ST Octane Academy in 2014 when I got my Fiesta. We drove Focuses and Fiestas. It was a gas. The Focuses were (IMHO) just better on the big track (more stable at speed and trail braking; just easier to drive fast). I can't wait to get out with the RS on MMR (uh UMC).

Should be fun. After that, it'll be time to take my own out on a local track some time, probably late next year.. Until then, the Fiesta will keep me entertained. That'll be my main weekend toy, but it's on so nice to have the RS for an occasional AWD road course woot. Such a totally different driving experience. Looking forward to having the two to contrast.

Not all of us have 4Cs to fall back on for track day fun.

AA was a great event as I went last September. I would recommend it all. Take some vacation time if needed and save up your bucks.
Tracks time was great, Drift pad was interesting and fun and the Autocross (they call it Urbancross) was good. There are a couple of events that I could have skipped. 1. Getting to know your car and drive modes for one. 2. Driving the figure 8. The figure 8 was in the Autocross so I guess it was a practice for it. Meals were OK nothing special. Swag bag was good. The Caliper you get as a trophy gift is heavy so plan accordingly. Ask questions about the RS and talk to the mechanics is you get a chance.

Personally, I wish they'd just do basic training on skills (less stuff specific to the Urbancross course and tricks). Instead, maybe they could emphasize collision avoidance, slalom, heel toe, and trail braking techniques in the a.m., almost like a highway patrol training/performance driving half day thing (minus the tactical stuff). Then all afternoon on the big track (or one of the tracks), learning the course and tuning feel for the car. I'm only going for the big kids track.

There was a lot of dead time during the track event where they could have easily squeezed in collision avoidance or one more event. I think the biggest issue is they don't have enough staff. All in all I had a great time and would recommend anyone that still has the opportunity to attend.

Anyone else do this event this year? I had a blast back in '17.

I also wen in early 2017, had a blast. Wish it was a full two day event.
