Details of even-hotter Ford Focus RS have been revealed, with full Mountune Performance package due soon
Last month, specialist tuner Mountune announced its Phase 1 upgrades for the newly launched Ford Focus RS. It has now divulged details of the Phase 2 tweaks, said to focus on 'improving and maintaining performance' of the already potent hot hatchback.
The initial set of parts included a selection of 'easy first-off modifications' including upgraded pipes and hoses, as well as stickier tyres and a new differential. Now, however, owners can up their game with a new induction kit, charge pipe kit, intercooler and re-circulation valve, as well as various chassis and transmission upgrades.
All the parts have been extensively tested on the gruelling Nurburgring race track – as well as on the road and dyno – to ensure perfect fitment, function and reliability. Customers will need to wait a little longer for an outright power boost.
The Mountune store is currently listing all the parts – including the Phase 1 hoses and roll restrictors, as well as lightweight 19-inch OZ Racing wheels and a high flow air filter. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and a Quaife Differential are also available, along with the Phase 2 Alloy Intercooler upgrade. You can even buy a yellow gearknob, Mountune floor mats and ‘Dynamic Side Splash’ stickers for the sills.
The Ford Focus RS Mountune will eventually gain a full Phase 3 Mountune Performance upgrade kit – much like that available on Ford’s Fiesta and Focus ST models. David Moore, General Manager of Mountune Performance says the complete package is close to completion, but that sign off is “not yet complete”.
“The Ford Focus RS is one of the most exciting and dynamically advanced Ford road cars”, he said. “For our engineering programme to reliability extract more power and torque – whilst ensuring proper interaction will all the car’s dynamic modes, suspension and launch control – has necessitated an extended durability sign-off”.
The full Mountune Performance kit will be revealed soon, along with prices and exact details. Only then will it be available for purchase and installation. A full MR300 kit on the Focus ST costs ?2,725, meaning we expect a complete RS package to cost closer to ?4,000.
