Premium alloy, low pressure cast, heat treated and shot peened.

Note:
Heat treatment precipitates out secondary particles in the aluminum matrix which locks the atomic lattice structure, reducing tendencies to grain boundary slip during applied loading. This precipitation hardening increases Ultimate and Yield Strength of the casting, and reduces the percentage elongation. Only specific alloys can be heat treated.

Shot peening creates a layer with compressive stresses which are negative stresses to counteract, somewhat, the tensile stresses on the wheel during loading. It is not like forging. It is this compressive stress that increases the time before fatigue cracks form.
